Our Curriculum

Cammeray Children’s Centre’s curriculum embraces everything that the children do each day. It is informed by the Early Years Learning Framework, a document designed to “extend and enrich children’s learning” (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 2009).

The curriculum has two dimensions. The first dimension derives from the children’s interests. This may manifest in project work and provisions within the environment that support the children’s learning and development through child-led experiences. The second dimension relates to the children’s needs. This part of the curriculum involves routines and educator-led experiences.

Children in their year before school are provided with a transition to school program to help support them as they prepare to enter a new learning environment. Children in this group are asked to please arrive at the centre by 9am.

Our learning groups

Children who attend the centre are divided into groups. Each group is named after a flowering plant native to the Sydney area. There is a maximum of 28 children in attendance each day.

The Acacia group is for children from 6 months and who begin the year under 2 years old.

The Banksia group is for children aged 2-3 years.

The Callistemon group is our junior preschool group.

The Waratah group is for children in their year before school.
