Other Information

Family participation

Our families bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience in many, many different areas. We  welcome family members to come in and contribute to the Centre and the program. Apart from the  opportunity to join the Management or Fundraising Committees, families are welcome to get involved in any number of ways.

We have had parents who have chosen to read stories, play musical instruments, provide cooking lessons, conduct art experiences and even make balloon animals. Older siblings and alumni have also  come in with their parents in the holidays to demonstrate their new skills and answer questions about what kindergarten and primary school is really like.

Celebrations of becoming, being and belonging

At Cammeray Children’s Centre, we explore a variety of cultural celebrations throughout the year with the children. This includes, but is not limited to Easter, Mothers’/Fathers’ Day, Japanese Girls/Boys Day, Diwali, Christmas and birthdays.

Families who choose to bring their children to the Centre join us in acknowledging cultural celebrations that are important to others and embrace diversity within our community.

Sun Safety

As a SunSmart early childhood centre, Cammeray Children’s Centre  encourages a balanced approach to UV exposure to help with vitamin D levels and ensure appropriate sun protection measures are used to minimise skin and eye damage and the risk of skin cancer.

The children are provided with colourful bucket hats with a wide brim and are asked to wear clothing that offers a degree of sun protection all year round.

Immunisation

Cammeray Children’s Centre encourages and promotes the NSW Immunisation Program as a means of protecting children from serious illness.

Only  children who are:

  • fully immunised for their age or
  • have a medical reason not to be immunised or
  • are on a catch-up schedule

can be enrolled in an early childhood education and care centre. Children who have not been immunised due to their parent’s vaccine conscientious objection cannot be enrolled.
